One Mo' Thing...

Song Song Song Sing, Sing Sing Sing A Song... Good Morning Starshine, the Earth Says Hello...
-I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm freeeeeeeehee-hee-hee!

-Forgot a few things last nite: "Mobbing"-find out what mobbing-in-the-workplace is y'all. Go to www.multistalker.org and www.frontcover.wordpress.com for more info.

-I forgot this too: I felt sorry for Anna Nicole Smith when her son dropped dead in front of her just days after her daughter was born. Now I feel sorry for DannieLynn b/c she won't get to know her mom nor her big brother. She is cute as a button! I believe Anna Nicole Smith was gangstalked to death, she as well as her son. Other celebs I believe have been gangstalked include: Paul Robeson, Bill Cosby, Lena Horne, Britney Spears, Marilyn Monroe, Eartha Kitt, John Lennon, Princess Diana, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

-Oh yeah, and look for me and my kid in a PSA for Teen Asthma from the Will Rogers Institute, Griffin and Stoner for production.

-Also I took my kid to see Beyonce' s concert @ Dundas & Yonge last September. She put on a great show. Wonder if she ever gets tired? I'll have the pix up and running when I get enough time to breathe.

-Oh yeah, and this: True Story-One fine spring day, my dear Mom and I decided to have brunch at a posh hotel restaurant. When we arrived, we saw people dressed as witches and aliens with long black capes and costumes and masks that resembled creatures from B-list horror movies of the '60s and '50s, (think Creature From the Black Lagoon etc.) We sat down to order and the man next to us was busy eating something which had a red jelled center, on a plate. I watched in horror, as he devoured every morsel. He asked me, "Are U one of us?" I promptly said, "No I am not! I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ!" The man smiled and said, "Ahh, I should've known better than to accost a non-believer". My mom asked the concierge who the group of people were and was told it was a Star Trek convention. I thought they were devil worshippers. See how wrong U can be, even when it feels so right?

-One Last Thing: Look for more quotes in my entries, starting ... now.
I love this dude Oscar Wilde, he's a great writer. For example: Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes.

SO MUCH STUFF, SO LITTLE TIME ...

So, I'd better get started... (condensed of course)

-I read a great book, called Black Ambition, White Hollywood-Hattie McDaniel by Jill Watts copyright 2005 by Harper Collins. It's a great book, gives you black history and Hollywood history too, and some good history on the NAACP. I highly recommend it.

-I also read April 2007's Reader's Digest which had a great interview with Halle Berry. I am very impressed. Pages 60-70 by Diane Weathers/Closer to Home. U just never know what people have been through, while they are looking so good! She was homeless for a brief while. It happens a lot in sho biz.

-West Side Story is doing a European Tour... U gotta be able to do that (no responsibilities) Show begins in Germany in October.

-I saw Jake Gyllenhaal at Saturday Nite Live a while back and I just fell in love with him! I saw Jarhead, which was a great movie (a little disturbing...), but nothing beats him putting on a wig and singing Dreamgirls' And I Am Tellin' U, I'm Not Going... This boy can SING! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry so I did both! I am fan forever! (I'd seen the much made over Dreamgirls movie and must say it paled in comparison to the Broadway experience!) Yet Jake's rendition was to die for. Not to take anything from Jennifer Hudson, b/c she was the best part of the movie if U ask me. I didn't like the Mahogany rip-off in the movie, (so obvious), and the added songs and scenes. I guess a movie can't reproduce a play exactly, huh? Speaking of Mahogany, U must see the June 2007 issue of Essence magazine, where the tribute to Mary J. Blige replicates scenes from Mahogany! Outstanding! It made momma proud! I think Mahogany is an inspirational movie for young Black girls. I wear it out! The original Diva-the Boss, Diana, U can call her Miss Ross, which is another great book if U can stand to read 655 pages. I read every detail and didn't want it to be over!

-April 28, 2007 from BET Movies and STARZ3-1999 but on Movieplex, I watched an awesome documentary: Scandalize My Name. The host was Morgan Freeman and it was written by Alexandra Isles and Hal Johnson. They interviewed classic Black Hollywood such as Ossie Davis, Harry Belafonte, and Rosetta Lenoir amongst others. The doc was about Black entertainers like actor Paul Robeson, pianist Hazel Scott and others, who were prevented from working in the entertainment industry during the Red Scare of the McCarthy Era. One performer I'd never heard of was actor Canada Lee, who reminds me of Dennis Haysbert. It is said he died of a broken heart b/c he was accused of being a communist. If U haven't seen it, order it. It's worth seeing, twice.

-I also read Hello! magazine-May 1, 2007. I think it's from Canada , but I think it's out of Europe, maybe England. The spread and interview on Isabel Preysler (Enrique Iglesia's mom) was great. Fabulous gowns and ensembles from top designers. She says, "Every age has its own rules. There's simply no sense in trying to look like a young girl when U are not." I agree. Consequently, she was voted Spain's most elegant woman! Classy, cosmopolitan, mature and mellow like fine wine. That gold number was off the chain!

-A while ago I read a book on Prince William. I 'd been reading Royalty and Majesty magazines since the late '80s as an avid Anglophile, and lost touch with those magz over the years. Yet there is a book talking about his alma mater, Eton College. The students must study 3 foreign languages, 3 of them required are French, Greek and Latin. All others are electives such as Swahili for instance. Wills had a tracking device electronically placed on him and had a bodyguard outside his door, all of this according to this book by Randi Reisfield. "The price of stardom is a loss of privacy" and the "stalkerazzi" are his quotes. Except Wills didn't choose to be in the spotlight, he was born into it. His mom, Princess Diana was the most photographed woman in the world. His full name is William Arthur Philip Louis Windsor and he's a Gem-ini.

-A book I read on Sophia Loren has a pix of her looking eerily like a cross between Angelina Jolie and Linda Evangelista. Her sons, Carlo Jr., and Edoardo are smokin' hot! ( I became a fan when she did Houseboat with Cary Grant.)

-Chicka just keeps rappin' 'em up! Old news I am sure by now, but when I find the time, I get it all out...I saw this on CNN's Headline News back in May I think. The state of Illinois has named a week in Oprah's honor!

-Tyson Ritter of AAR(All American Rejects) is so awesome! I love their songs (Dirty Little Secret) and his eyes are so beautiful (although sometimes he looks like he's) ... never mind. Move along, move along...

-May 2007 issue of Oprah magazine was great! It had an article on faith. Really good.

-Speaking of faith... CNN and Anderson Cooper did a show on What Is a Christian? God, Faith and Hard Science. I don't see why faith and the hard sciences are incompatible. I met Dr. Ben Carson some years ago and I know of several doctors who believe in both. There's nothing more pitiful than an ignorant Christian, and nothing more dangerous. One of the people interviewed on the show was Dr. Francis Collins of the National Human Genome Project and he was homeschooled, BTW, and went to Yale. As a medical student he finally gained a faith in God, for the first time in his life. He says there is overwhelming evidence in his life, b/c "energy and matter cannot create themselves". Also the piece on DNA and faith was very interesting to say the least. Is the human brain wired to believe in a "God" and have a spiritual life? They found that whether they were Catholic nuns, Tibetan monks or whatever religion, prayer focuses concentration and the parietal lobe helps create a sense of awe and joy when surrounded by prayer. A new field of science is termed Neurotheology, which asks, "Is there a scientific basis for faith?"

-I saw Ben Affleck on Real Time with Bill Maher (love that guy) and PJ O'Rourke sat next to Ben Affleck. Ben is smart and passionate on political and social issues! He's a serious, outspoken Democrat! The show was great! Representative Ron Paul-(R) of Texas, was excellent! The pix of Nosferatu as Giuliani was hilarious! The penguins are on fire! Love that guy! Catch overtime@HBO .com. Bill's book is a laugh out loud reader, also!

-Oh Girl, Oh Beautiful!-Back in May, the end of it, I think, Oprah did a show on self-hatred. It was informative and I learned a lot. I learned about Oprah's 1/2 sister who was lightskinned and got to sleep in the house, while Oprah got to sleep on the porch; and a woman named Tangela with her son Najee who prayed while pregnant that her child would not be darkskinned (guess God found it would be a lesson for her to have a dark child, but there was nothing wrong with either of them). The real shocker for me was Su Chin Park of MTV who is Korean American and believed as a child (taught this in Asian society) that a crease in the eyelid, which makes them appear larger and round, was beautiful. Asians everywhere seek out this surgery to make their eyes appear bigger! They have conversations about this! Unbelievable! Go to Oprah.com to download the one year contract which has a promise that girls will honor themselves and appreciate their unique beauty. My kid and I watched it together! It was pivotal b/c people hold a lot of these negative perceptions in their heads.

-Thick Madame-I saw a movie this morning with Mo'Nique in it. It was a good movie! I have always admired Mo'Nique, even tho' I am considered a "skinny bitch" by her standards. I was somewhat a thick kid, so I can identify. (My momma and grandmomma could COOK!) Anyways, I love Mo'Nique's self-confidence and the way she takes care of herself. Her hair is always hooked, and her outfits are fabulous! And she is beautiful! I don't even think she is big! In this movie, Tunde (Jimmy Jean-Louis was GORGEOUS! OMG!), the breakdown and then the self-love part were worth watching again and again! I saw Mo'Nique on Patti Labelle's show on TV One some time ago and she spoke about how her dad always told her she was beautiful. She also spoke on being in sho biz as a single mom and the rigors of travelling and just trying to make it. I admire and respect her.

-Sho' Biz-Another great book, y'all, is The Art of Living Well, Looking Good and Feeling Great by Joan Collins. Along with Patti Labelle's books, I always buy Joan Collin's books. (Two Gem-ini Divas) Patti's Pearls of Wisdom is a classic and so is Don't Block the Blessings. I also recommend Past Imperfect and Second Act byJoan, if U can. Anyways, Joan has been divorced 4 times and is currently married to a man 30 years younger than herself. Her chapter (10) on Relationships, Love and Sex, are a keeper. Good advice, U know. She even mentions this blog on page 150 ... (well, sort of). It's a great book, seriously.

-Yay Jaslene! ANTM has finally picked a Latina to win America's Next Top Model. I kept saying she reminded me of Janice Dickinson. I predicted that Natasha (hilarious) would be in the final 3. The part where Tyra revealed that Yael (or Jael) was 1/2 Black and 1/2 White was a stunner to Twiggy and Nigel! Also, when 50Cent pushed her ass in the water, wow! That made for great tv! I missed like two or three episodes, but it was still entertaining to me. Nothing beats season 3 tho', when all those Black girls rocked it! And of course, I gotta say it again... I LOVE Jay and Miss Jay! Emmanuel and Alexander.

-Me and My Umbrella!- Rihanna rocked the MTV awards a few days ago when she was on stage. My kid kept raving about this video and I kept missing it when she'd show it to me. Too busy U know. But I did see her on the MTV awards. She has taken on a new image, (all grown up) from her sophomore project and she's showing more versatility. BTW, she was on the cover of Jewel magazine some months back. We see her everywhere now.

-Speaking of MTV, I was thrown by the boos Paris Hilton got when Sarah Silverman mentioned her being in the audience and going to jail the following day. I have laughed out loud at DListed calling her Parasite Hilton and so on, but I thought the audience was unusually cruel to her. I would hope someone who has been in her predicament would tell her she can get through this. And to cover her head with a jacket or blanket so paparazzi can't get all these pix of her crying. Poor thing!

-The Big Four!-Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are in the daily news constantly. I remember when Britney went to rehab and had shaved her head, telling my child that she should start all over in life and come out anew, and she did. Cool! Only thing is, they still pick on Britney head-to toe, (I saw on E! News or something about her wasted pedicure) and now we have to see a closeup pix of the dimples in her ass! C'mon y'all!

-Talking 'Bout Money, Money, Money-Saw Dr. Robert Kiyosaki on PBS early one Sunday morning and I've read Rich Dad Poor Dad several times and I find it essential. He mentions John Taylor Gatto BTW and how some students are educated to follow the leader and create lifelong debt, etc. Kim Kiyosaki, his wife is excellent as well, on women and money.

-Flava of Love???-Okay, I never watched the whole series, but my kid and her friends were engrossed in the infamous "spitting" incident, in which a White woman nicknamed Punkin spit in a Black woman's (New Yawk) face. I could not help but see it b/c VH-1 replayed the hell out of it! I mean, over and over and over... so I watched with my kid to let her know what to accept and what not to (obviously none of that!) and then I let her know the participants got paid weekly to be on the show. Ay I got proof! Anyways, I watched the episode with New York(Tiffany Patterson's) parents. I actually like New York and think she could be a natural-born Diva, but she can't let ANYONE spit in her face and go collect a clock! GEEZ!
Anyways, her mom(Michelle) is serious Diva material; she was on the case with Flava Flave! Flava Flave was/is with one of the most serious rap groups ever to come out of the genre (Public Enemy), and I was floored! The show came out of Surreal Life where he was cavorting with Brigitte Nielsen, as in a real romance. Bwahahahah!

-The Most Beautiful Dead Pirate in the World, Aye? That's right, Johnny Depp is so freakin' beautiful, clean or dirty... (and his acting is superb! U can tell the man has a lot of personality, even from 21 JumpStreet).

-Speaking of Personality- I saw comedian Chris Thomas of Washington, DC on BET a few nights ago. I met him at a fashion show I was in quite some years back. He still looks exactly the same!

-MENS-That's what my granny called them, God rest her. I've had the chance (I guess U can call it that) to... reconnect (?) with two guys from my past. Funny how years can past and someone not change an inch and not realize that means they have stagnated and are not maturing, but... therefore, men of my past, will have to stay there!

-Mrs. Yuck is Mean, Mrs. Yuck is Green... This blurb is about envy/jealousy. These last few years I've had the displeasure of being in the company of younger females who display unladylike behaviour, showing out all their insecurities to the world. Let it be noted that all the energies expended towards another person whom U believe has it better than u or has "more of something" or whatever unfair advantage U believe they have, all that negative energy could be used for self-improvement or a positive change in your own lives/life. To grant so much attention to a person is to give resuscitation to your own self-doubts. Comparison is always unfair, don't go there. It'll depress U, b/c U already think the object of your envy or hatred has something U wish U had.Channel that energy into a learning process. Make it a positive. Life is too short to simmer and stew in hate about something U obviously can't change and only reflects your shortcomings to the world. And acting on your hate only magnifies them to others. Don't stoop so low! If U find your own value and deal with you past hurts, and find your own unique beauty within (in yourself and others), people will see your beauty as well, inside and out. Change the things U can change about U and appreciate SELF! Stop worrying about someone else. And, oh yeah... a nasty attitude makes for a nasty-looking face! Suppose Tyler Perry, Oprah, Judy Garland, Mother Theresa, Iman, Michael Jordan, Madeline Albright, Harriet Tubman, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Mark Twain or any other person, had wasted their precious time on this earth envying someone else? It's doubtful they would have reached their pinnacle of accomplishment. Time is most valuable! No, it is of inestimable value! Ask yourself what U accomplish in "your" life by hating on someone else? And here's a little tasty quote from Joan Collins on being born beautiful (and she was born beautiful!)--The problem with beauty is that it's like being born rich and getting poorer. (Develop the within-that's beautiful!)

The penguins are on fire!

P'ayce!
