American Refugees (?)

This is what I have been compiling since I heard the news Monday on Air America Radio...
Re: Hurricane Katrina---
I know of people there and I have no way to find out if they are alive, okay or what. I went on www.cnn.com and www.msnbc.com and others but nothing about any of them is on the search/looking for lists. Today is Sunday evening. I am very worried. Also, if the electricity was out in N.O. and babies were starving to death, and there was no food, no water, etc., why would anyone handcuff, threaten, shoot at and/or arrest those who were taking food? The food would have gone bad anyway...why not let the human beings EAT it?
My daughter asks about Britney Spears from Louisiana, and Brandy and Oprah are from Mississippi. Could money spent to spy on innocent Americans (like me) have been used to save thousands of lives? Of course, no one thought this mega-catastrophe would occur, but... shouldn't we all expect better preparation?
Guess some people are considered more human than others.
Our boxes are ready to go out but not until Tuesday morning. Best I can do for now. I even went on www.americanredcross.org to search for them, but nothing came up. I will try the www.salvationaremy.org next. Really worried. If by chance she reads this: Hey Dee, it's Connie; hope you and your mom and brother and Jeremy are okay. I'll keep trying to find you. If you need anything, post on this blog or on one of the organizations above and I'll keep searching. My prayers are with you. Anything you need let it be known, you were there for me in my time of need. Love and peace.
*Also, these Hurricane Katrina Victims ARE NOT REFUGEES! They are American Citizens! No more divisions, please! Evacuees or hurricane victims, brothers and sisters, call them any one of those. *
Much love to the world. And peace.
